How to Ensure Proper Maintenance of Your Slurry Pumps? (In Only 6 Steps)

STEP #1: Check the belts

• When should you check the belt tension of the slurry pumps?

If your slurry pumps are belt driven please check the tension once quarterly at a minimum. Belts that are too tight will cause damage to the light series motor bearing and once that bearing fails then the thrust bearing will start to fail in the pump. Belts ran too loose will cause poor performance and slippage causing damage to the sheaves.

YAH Metal Lined Slurry Pump

• How to tell if the belts are loose on slurry pumps?

An experienced ear can tell if the belts are too loose. They will be making a flapping sound. Belts that are too tight could cause the motor to be pulling high amps or bearing temperatures to increase before you start to notice bearing failure.

STEP #2: Check the oil

• When should you change the oil of your pump?

If your pump is on oil lubrication please check periodically to make sure no water or product is present in the oil. If your sealing device is ok, changing the oil on a regular interval will increase the lifetime of any pump.

• Water is bad for your slurry pump: how to know if there is water in the oil?

Water is bad as it will cause bearing and/or motor failure. Seals do leak by nature and a small amount of water is ok. A significant amount of water in the oil will cause the oil to be milky.

Some key features may be already incorporated into your pump's design to help identify water in your oil. One such feature is the moisture sensor which will trip when there is excessive amounts of water in the oil. Water in the oil is an early indicator that sealing has been compromised.

The first place to check is the sealing device used on your particular pump.

Another thing to check is the setting distance from the end of the probe from the housing.

STEP #3: Check your impeller clearance

Best performance is achieved by checking your impeller clearance on occasion. Consult your manual for proper clearance. When checking clearance look for excessive wear in the impeller and other wetted parts.

Wear in the wetted parts can cause the clearance to increase causing a loss in performance.

Wear can be caused by the abrasiveness of the product being pumped or by running the pump off the designed curve for the pump.

STEP #4: How to review slurry pump requirements

Is the slurry pump still being asked to do what it was built to do?

Sometimes systems and processes change but we continue to ask the same of our equipment without taking into consideration the changes to the process that may have been made throughout the years.

For trouble shooting it is a good idea to install a pressure gauge and flow meter on the discharge line of the pump. You can take the pressure reading and multiply it by 2.31 to give you a rough TDH. You can then take the TDH and a flow reading and see if your pump is running near BEP on the pump curve. If not, please contact the OEM.

YAHR Rubber Lined Slurry Pump

STEP #5: Monitor your pumps temperature

Temperature sensors are provided with our submersible pumps for protection of the motor. Each manual provided with the pump will outline how to hook up and monitor the temperature sensors for maximum lifetime.

• Why should you care?

If the motor gets too hot the sensors will trip and the pump will shut down until the motor cools. If the sensors are not connected you are running the risk of burning up your motor.

If you ask for a warranty claim and these devices are not connected then your warranty is void.

• When should you check your slurry pump temperature?

Our horizontal and cantilever pumps need to have the temperature of the bearings checked weekly while the pump is in operation. Using a temperature gun check the bearing housing temp in the closest proximity to the bearing.

• What temperature should the slurry pump be?

While most pump bearings run in the 140 to 170 F range I suggest never allowing temperatures to exceed 200 degrees F maximum. Bearing temperatures can be a sign of too much lubrication or beginning stages of bearing failure.

STEP #6: Monitor the pump bearings

Using some form of vibration equipment. This will give you an indication if bearings start to fail.

Vibration analysis should be performed by a qualified and trained engineer/ technician experienced with this type of work.

Proper vibration monitoring will give the user a lot of useful information which can increase the MTBF and improve performance of the pump.

Use of Foil, Parchment, Wax Paper and Freezer Paper

Use of Foil, Parchment, Wax Paper and Freezer Paper

You may know that foil is silver, freezer paper, parchment paper and wax paper are paper, but does that's all you know about them? These four kitchen staples have a variety of uses and can make cooking much easier. Here are the differences and tips on how to use them.

Use of Foil, Parchment, Wax Paper and Freezer Paper

Wax paper vs. parchment paper

Food grade wax paper and parchment paper are both coated papers. The difference is in their coating. Parchment paper - available in bleached and unbleached - is coated with silicone, while wax paper is coated with, you guessed it, wax. Soy or paraffin wax, to be exact.

Their coatings give them different uses. Parchment paper's silicone coating makes it heat-resistant and non-stick. Use this paper wonder to line your baking sheet with food that won't stick to it.

The best use for wax paper is to line countertops and tables before spreading out pie crusts or kneading bread to prevent staining. Wax paper can also be used to wrap food for freezing or even lining pans to make things like fudge. Placing a sheet of wax paper between items to be frozen can also prevent them from sticking together.

So, in summary, parchment paper is good for hot applications and wax paper is good for cold applications.

Use of Foil, Parchment, Wax Paper and Freezer Paper

Wax paper vs. freezer paper

Because they are so similar, both freezer paper and wax paper are used to wrap and freeze food. The biggest difference is that freezer paper is coated with plastic on one side only, while wax paper is coated with wax on both sides. Because of the plastic coating, freezer paper is usually more durable than wax and protects better in the freezer.

For example, meat wrapped in wax paper will only stay in the freezer for a few months without burning. On the other hand, meat wrapped in freezer paper can be kept for up to a year. This is because freezer paper is more resistant to moisture.

If you plan to cook food soon, you can use wax paper, but use freezer paper for long-term freezer storage.

Wax paper vs. foil

Okay, so foil and wax paper have many similar uses, but which is better? A good rule of thumb is to use wax paper if you don't want it to stick, and foil if you want to insulate.

Unlike wax paper, aluminum foil can also be reused or recycled. So, if you want to save the planet and you can't choose between foil and wax paper, choose foil. Be sure to rinse it well before sliding it into the recycling bin.

Use of Foil, Parchment, Wax Paper and Freezer Paper

Non-stick silicone steam paper

Foil vs. parchment paper

Foil is basically very thin aluminum. Many people use it to arrange cooking dishes for easy cleanup, which is a great trick, but unlike parchment paper, foil does not have non-stick properties. You might put a small piece of foil on the bottom of a baked potato or cookie.

In addition, research in the International Journal of Electrochemical Sciences found that small amounts of aluminum may leach into food during the cooking process. Just like wax paper, the best choice is parchment paper if there is heat involved.

Common cooking staples have very different uses. Make sure you use the correct one in this guide. We have food grade wax wrappers, beeswax rolls, and vegetarian wraps for sale, designed to make your kitchen and restaurant convenient while doing our best to protect the environment. Contact us to buy now!

Why replace the coil spring?

The function of the Auto Suspension Coil Spring is to support the vehicle at the desired height, maintain the proper positioning angle and absorb road shocks transmitted through the tires and shock absorbers.

Constant flexing in normal service can gradually weaken the suspension system, allowing the car to sag. Once this sag becomes apparent, the entire car suffers. The steering components are forced out of position, thereby changing the geometry of the steering linkage. The loss of the original coil spring can only be fully recovered by installing a new coil spring. This will return the vehicle to the correct height.

Most steering linkages systems are designed so that the tie rod assemblies connect to the center link or rack at some angle. On these vehicles, with the steering linkage in front of the spindle, a sagging suspension will force the tie rod out-ward and cause a “toe out” condition.f the linkage is positioned behind the spindle on these vehicles, the outward force of the tie rods caused by the drop in suspension height will cause a “toe-in” condition.

The steering arm connection for vehicles equipped with rack and pinion steering have the same design characteristics and functions incorporated in parallelogram steering. Thus a change in vehicle height will have the same effect on toe change with either linkage system.

There are some linkage systems that are designed with all components approximately horizontal. A decrease in suspension height will cause these changes to be reversed, pulling the tie rods inward and produce the “toe-out” condition in

Incorrect ride height can also affect camber. As the vehicle begins to sag, the angle of the control arm changes. This change in suspension geometry and camber will greatly affect lateral wear or in-and-out motion of the tire as it rolls over irregular surfaces. Suspension systems are designed to minimize tire movement in and out; however, extreme lateral wear caused by geometry changes can lead to premature tire wear

A sagging suspension means that tires wear faster, some steering control and handling is lost, headlight aim is adversely affected, and vehicle appearance is marred.

COIL SPRING INSPECTION

A quick overall visual inspection will detect any obvious sag from front to rear or from side to side. Upon visual inspection under the car, look for the two ends of the control arms out of level, damaged or worn rubber bumpers and shiny or worn spring coils. All indicate weak coil springs.

Before visual inspection or suspension height measurements can be accomplished, the vehicle must be on a level surface, tires must be full and there should be no passenger or luggage compartment load. Beginning at the rear bumper, jounce the car up and down several times, proceed to the front bumper and repeat, releasing during same cycle as rear jounce.

More accurate inspection will reveal less obvious side-to-side sag by measuring heights at specific points on each side of the suspension system. If bumper is bent or damaged, compare ground-to-fender measurements taken at center of wheel cutout in fender. Allowable height difference should be no more than for ground-to-bumper measurement.

For accurate front-to-rear comparison, measurement points should be checked against manufacturer’s recommendations for the specific model, after determining that the vehicle is properly unloaded of abnormal cargo.

If inspection reveals a weak Coil Springs For Suspension Parts on either side, both sides must be replaced. Never attempt to avoid replacement by hiding the effect of a weak spring with any kind of insert, block or so called stabilizer. An insert will raise the vehicle height, but at the expense of handling and comfort. An insert virtually disables the coil it separates, and eliminates its ability to absorb shock. Further, the insert concentrates the stresses on a single point of the coil rather than distributing these forces throughout the spring. This simply accelerates fatigue and failure of the spring. Overload and air shocks are equally unsuitable as a means for overcoming sagging coil springs. These devices are designed to maintain proper vehicle height in overloaded conditions only.

The Difference Between Gel And Liquid Hand Sanitizers

When people think of hand sanitizer, they usually think of the standard gel they see in the doctor's office, the teacher's classroom, or the neighborhood grocery shop. It's what they often see in public places and therefore what they are most familiar with.

But gel isn't the only form. There are liquids, foams, wipes, and sprays, and each has its own unique advantages and disadvantages when it comes to PPE equipment. The two most common types of hand sanitizer are gels and liquids, but how do they differ? Is there a situation or application where one is preferable to the other?

Gel hand sanitizers vs liquid hand sanitizers

gel hand sanitizer is a hand sanitizer with a thicker, almost jelly-like consistency - hence the name gel. Liquid hand sanitizers, on the other hand, are much closer to the consistency of water. Due to the alcohol content and the unique production methods of the manufacturing companies, you may find some bubbles in both antibacterial mixtures. Depending on the additives, both sanitizers can be clear or almost any colour in the rainbow. Blue, yellow, purple, and so on.

Gel Hand Sanitizer

 Gel Hand Sanitizer

In terms of set-up, you can usually find both hand sanitizers in busy healthcare settings such as clinics, as both are easily transferred from wall-mounted dispensers. This is a huge benefit for doctors, patients and visitors alike. The average consumer often prefers the gel form as it is easier to dispense without spilling everywhere. This makes it the preferred choice for protection on the go, or even when you are relaxing at home.

What do gel and liquid hand sanitizers have in common?

When it comes to the effectiveness of gel or liquid hand sanitizers, they are on almost equal footing. It really boils down to the right application. According to the CDC, you need to apply the entire surface of your hand correctly and then rub the product into your skin and nails until your hands are completely dry. This usually takes about 20 to 30 seconds.

In addition, the alcohol content of the sanitizer is something you should be aware of.

A good hand sanitizer should contain alcohol.

It is important to note this because there are many brands that market alcohol-free sanitisers. Your sanitiser will only be effective against germs if it contains at least 60% alcohol. You can find both gel and liquid sanitizers that meet this requirement.

 FDA Approved Hand Sanitizer

  FDA Approved Hand Sanitizer

The difference between gel and liquid hand sanitizers

As several studies on hand sanitizers have established, there are some significant differences between the gel and liquid forms. Gels tend to take about 30 seconds before bacteria and viruses are completely eliminated, while liquids usually take about half that time. However, this delayed action of the gel gives you enough time to completely cover your hands in the sanitizer so that the product can be used to its full potential.

Liquids have a low viscosity and are therefore very fluid. Studies have shown that gels are often preferred over liquid disinfectants as they are usually less smelly and more portable, among other benefits. Therefore, the fact that there are more gel hand sanitizers than liquids makes sense.

In the end, the differences between gel and liquid hand sanitizers really don't affect their superpower to fight germs. If you wish to decide between the two, consider the reason you need the product and when you plan to use it. That way, you can weigh up the pros and cons of either type and choose the one that suits you best.

At Health & Beyond, we understand that many different situations and needs may arise throughout your day. That's why we offer a wide range of hand sanitizer options. Whether you need more information, samples, or a quote, we would be delighted to talk to you. For more details, contact us now.

Benefits of Using Body Lotions

You should never neglect your body care and we recommend using a body lotion.

Many women tend to follow a multi-step facial skincare routine, however, the opposite is true for our bodies, which we often neglect - this leads to problems such as dryness, cellulite and even wrinkles, and we should pay more attention to body care.

 Benefits Of Using Body Lotions

Body Lotion

Why and how does dry skin happen?

There are a range of reasons why your skin may be prone to dryness.

  • In the winter. Your skin is especially prone to dryness in the winter months. The cooler months - and the cold air and wind that come with them - can dry out your skin. In addition, enjoying hot showers and/or heaters can also cause dry skin. That's because they remove moisture from your skin, making it dry and saggy.

  • In the summer. It's not just the cold that can dry out your skin. Summer often brings some unwanted dryness too! High temperatures, UV rays and frequent showers can dry out your skin. Dehydrating your skin.

  • Lifestyle factors. Stress and certain dietary habits, such as eating too much salt, can affect your skin's moisture levels.

  • Medication problems. In some cases, specific medications can cause moisture levels to drop. You think this may be the case, it is recommended to consult your doctor.

 Body Lotion

Body Lotion

Treat your skin gently

Although skin conditions may be caused by internal factors, there are some regular treatments or products that we can incorporate into our daily lives to improve its condition. Limit your bath time. Unlike facial skin, body skin tends to be thinner and the skin on our bodies varies in different areas. Hot water and long showers or baths can remove oil from the skin and strong soaps need to be avoided. Strong soaps and detergents can strip the oil from the skin.

In the fall and winter months, you can mix a few drops of essential oil into your body lotion or focus on dry areas first and then use body lotion to enhance micronization. Depending on your situation, you may choose to add different essential oils such as rose to moisturize, lavender to help with anti-inflammation and relaxation, and the fresh scent of grapefruit to relieve stress and help tone the skin. Instead of just pouring the lotion on and smoothing it out, gently massage it in an up-and-down rubbing or circular motion to relax the skin and muscles, which also facilitates absorption.

Benefits of body care

It helps to slow down the aging process. Body lotion will help soothe the body during the dry winter months when we lose moisture, and it will better help keep our skin glowing during the summer months when frequent showers drain away the oils. Once you establish a body care routine, it is easier to maintain. It boosts confidence and when you look good, you feel good. It keeps the skin healthy, which in turn makes you healthier.

There are many styles of body lotions available today, and there are also relatively light silicone ingredients available if you want to combine the feel of your skin with the moisturizing effect.

Health & Beyond can also custom body lotions. Our body lotions are nourishing, moisturizing and come in a variety of scents including fresh citrus, sweet florals and more to replace perfume in everyday life and make skincare routines less of a stress. With a package weight of 236ml, the smaller size makes it easier to carry around for travel. It is moisturizing, nourishing, non-sticky and smells good.

Surge Arrester vs Lightning Arrester: Which One to Choose

Lightning

Different terms used for arresters are sometimes confusing even professional engineers and electricians use them interchangeably. Now let’s discuss all these arresters in details.

Table of Contents

What is a Surge Arrester?

What is a Lightning Arrester?

Main Differences between Surge Arrester and Lightning Arrester

Should You Use Surge Arresters or Lightning Arresters?

Surge Arrester

1. The surge arrester will be installed nearer to the equipment to be protected and the transmission tower line enter in to the substation point.

2. It protects against high voltage transient (example: lightning strike on the transmission conductor) typically, it is indirect protection of lightning strikes.

3. It should be installed each phase of the circuit. i.e if you have 2 parallel switch yard then you should install 6 number of surge arrester (first run 3 phase and second run 3 phase) .

Surge Arrester

Lightning arresters

1. The lighting arrester is doing the exact duty of surge arrester from outside of the conductor.

2. The lightning arrester does not have any contact with the power line conductor.

3.They will be installed in the transmission tower.

4. They are attached with the insulator or separately placed nearer to the conductor and the end terminal is connected with the ground.

What Is a Surge Arrester?

A surge arrester is a voltage limiting device installed in the panel of the installed equipment, which not only protects the insulation, equipment and machinery from lightning strikes, but also protects against transient voltages generated by switches, sparks, load shading and other electrical faults such as earth faults.

Typically, they are installed inside pad-mounted transformers, on household circuit breakers, on substations and pole-mounted riser poles. The standards for these arresters are defined by IEC standard 60099-4 and IEEE standard C62.11. Surge arresters have different types of application, from protecting homes to public substations.

Surge arrester participate inside of the power line. Which means the surge arrester will be installed in the transmission line, the total power system phase voltage is directly applied across the surge arrester.

Surge Arrester

What is a lightning arrester?

Due to lightning, voltage surges are generated in different ways. Circuits that are protected from lightning strokes with the help of specific equipment are called lightning arresters.

It is used to protect electrical systems by redirecting high voltage surges to ground. Although an earth or earth wire can also protect overhead lines and power systems from direct lightning strikes, it may not prevent the traveling waves from reaching terminally connected equipment and devices. For this reason, surge diverters or lightning arresters are used to protect the power system from surges generated by faults or lightning stokes.

Lightning arresters are installed at the peak height of structures, i.e. transmission poles, pylons and buildings, to provide a safe path for the discharge currents and voltages to earth caused by lightning strokes to protect the system from problems caused by lightning stokes.

Lightning

Main Differences between Surge Arrester and Lightning Arrester

• Surge arrester installed inside the panel board while lightning arrester are installed outside.

• Surge arrester protects the installation from inside while lightning arrester protects the equipment from outside.

• Surge arrester protects the system from lightning, switching, electrical faults and other transients voltage and surges while lightning arrester are mainly used for lightning strikes and associated surges.

• Surge arrester intercepts the surges and send the extra unwanted energy to the ground wire while lightning arrester divert the energy flow to the ground through the arrester to the ground.

• Surge arrester can be used as a lighting arrester while lighting arrester can’t be used as a surge arrester.

Should you use a lightning arrester or a surge arrester?

Firstly, both tools can protect your home. However, it depends on what protection you need.

In short, the decision to choose one or the other varies depending on the type of protection you need. The aim of both is to protect your home. Because both tools tend to protect your home, either one of them should work effectively.

How Do You Know When You Should Use Non-sparking Tools?

Many business operations rely on a variety of tools to perform daily operations. Some use heavy mechanical tools or manufacturing equipment. Others rely on a variety of tools to keep their facilities clean.

Not all tools offer non-sparking options, but if your business deals with the inherent fire hazards associated with flammable, combustible, or explosive materials on-site, you may be interested in non-sparking tools that reduce risk and increase operational safety. In fact, you may be required by law to use non-sparking tools whenever possible.

 242 Non-Sparking Cutting Shears

 242 Non-Sparking Cutting Shears

Naturally, you want to ensure the safest working environment for your employees and, in some cases, for the public. For business owners who handle hazardous materials, this is as much a legal issue as it is an ethical one.

The question is: How do you know when you should use non-sparking tools? Here are some situations where the use of non-sparking tools is recommended.

According to OSHA's recommendations

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is concerned with the health and safety of employees in the workplace and during the work process. The organization is responsible for setting health and safety standards for all aspects of operations and enforcing regulations designed to ensure worker safety.

It's no surprise, then, that OSHA has guidelines for the use of spark-free tools in the workplace. In the "Hand and Power Tools" manual, OSHA provides the following helpful information.

200 Non Sparking Shovel

 200 Non-Sparking Shovel

"Iron or steel hand tools may produce sparks, which may be a source of ignition around flammable materials. If this hazard exists, use fire-resistant floral tools made of non-ferrous materials for storage or use where flammable gases, highly volatile liquids, and other explosive materials are present."

Non-sparking tools can include a variety of products, such as wrenches, pliers, and screwdrivers, as well as items such as shovels and brooms. Any tool with a metal component can produce sparks, but tools made of non-ferrous metals are more likely to produce "cold sparks," if any, and their heat is so low that even substances such as carbon disulfide are unlikely to ignite with a very low ignition point.

If you are unsure whether your workplace requires spark-free tools, it is best to talk to an OSHA representative to determine your responsibilities. Failure to comply with OSHA regulations may result in fines or other consequences, so it is best to go directly to the source.

127 Non Sparking Monkey Adjustable Wrench

When working with flammable substances

Whenever you work with flammable or combustible materials, you need to do everything possible to avoid sparks that could cause a fire hazard. Even if you follow all applicable rules and regulations regarding the safe storage of hazardous chemicals or other flammable substances, there is always a fire hazard. In such cases, it is best to use non-sparking tools as an extra precaution, whether or not OSHA requires you to do so. Worker safety and facility safety are critical, and non-sparking tools help reduce the risk of fire.

When working with explosive substances

Although there are significant differences between flammable and explosive substances, sparks are dangerous around both types of materials. Just as you want to avoid potential fire hazards, you may prefer not to deal with explosions in the workplace. For this reason, spark-free tools are essential for businesses that store and handle explosive materials.

190 Non Sparking Chipping Hammer

 190 Non-Sparking Chipping Hammer

When working in confined spaces

You may not understand why there is any difference in safety standards between open spaces and confined spaces, but confined spaces can be more dangerous, especially in the event of a fire. This is partly because fires can spread more quickly in confined spaces, especially those that are cluttered and unorganized.

If you happen to store hazardous or flammable materials in a confined space for safety and security purposes, a fire can be catastrophic, even if the space is well-ventilated and has additional safety features such as fire sprinkler heads. In addition, confined spaces can be difficult to maneuver, potentially increasing the risk of workers being trapped in an emergency situation and creating difficulties for emergency responders attempting to rescue them.

In other words, you need to be extra careful when it comes to confined workspaces, especially if flammable, combustible, or explosive materials are present. Non-sparking tools will help ensure the safety of workers and your facility.

Looking for quality non-sparking tools, Tuokai safety tools is one of the trusted manufacturers of non-sparking tools. The company has a complete set of investment casting production lines of international advanced equipment, explosion-proof tools, steel tool forging production lines, mechanical finish machining production lines, and product packaging test production lines, ensuring the quality of products shipped to meet the requirements of the technical standards. Our company has non-sparking tools for sale, such as nonsparking cutting shears, nonsparking monkey adjustable wrench, non sparking chipping hammer, non sparking shovel, non sparking pliers, welcome to consult!
