In the construction industry, many people may confused dry mix mortar with concrete, think these two are the same.
But in fact, there is a certain difference between mortar and concrete.
1. The production is different.
Inside mortar there are cement, water and sand, which are mixed in a certain proportion. There are more components in the concrete, not only water cement, sand, stones and others are also mixed in a certain proportion.
2. The usage is different.
Generally speaking, the cement mortar can be used as bonding material. Like for pasting ceramic tiles or wall tiles... But the bonding strength need more of that. That’s why we need RDP and HPMC to improve the adhesion and consistency on both side to give mortar better workability.

But for concrete, it is used for pouring and can be poured into various substrate.
Polycarboxylate superplasticizer (liquid) is a high-performance water reducer for concrete, with low dosage, it can effectively improve the concrete early strength and slump retention. Make the construction easier.
The property is different, the strength of cement mortar is slightly weak, it can't achieve external load capacity by relying on its own strength, after the formation of this brick, the bearing capacity ratio is lower, that’s the reason why RDP, Cellulose ether, Superplasticizer... is necessary for improving the mortar workability and strength.
To be mentioned, we use Polycarboxylate superplasticizer(PCE) powder in dry-mortar system, PCE KPS-500 can against BASF Melflux 2651F, excellent adaptability with kinds of cement.
But the concrete has higher load capacity depending on its own compressive resistance.
Using as secondary reinforcement, polypropylene fibers help reduce shrinkage and control cracking. The longer the fibers are, the stronger the bond between fibers and paste is and thus the greater the fiber pull-out strength is. If fibers are too long, uniform distribution of the fibers becomes difficult. Longer fibers can be used when larger aggregates are present to shear the bundles of fiber apart. Short fibers are used with small or lightweight aggregate.

3. The cost is different. The price of concrete is a little cheaper under the same volume.
